Between 1805 and 1808, Ludwig van Beethoven wrote Symphony No. 6 in F Major, also known as the Pastoral Symphony. The composition was premiered at Vienna’s Theater an der Wien on 22 December 1808.
It’s frequently performed and recorded today, featuring in Walt Disney’s Fantasia in 1940 and Soylent Green in 1973.
